"Take it, or Leave it!"-as the locals would say about this no thrills bar that caters to everyone.  Every day is a fun day at Butter! Get this special deal- $10.00 for $20.00 worth of food & drinks!  Wow!  A heck of a deal, especially when the menu prices start at only a buck! You filthy creatures, I'm talking about the triple whammy virginity loss this fabulously OTT dive bar provided me with. For the first time in my life, I - consumed tater tots - had a proper jello shot - danced on a bar, Coyote Ugly style When you've been basking in the Golden Gate Park sun all afternoon in brilliant company, many of whom are sporting hick-style fancy dress, cowboy hats and cut-offs, with plentiful BBQ and chardonnay, it's hard to top the experience. But Butter (but butter! Fnar fnar) did just that. The place is quirky and tacky, the music is excellent for dancing, and the food is all kinds of witty American retro. Horrified by the fact that the Europeans amongst us hadn't ever tasted tater tots before, Alex S soon put that right and it was the ideal snack to soak up the day's indulgences. And I've got my eye on that double-fried twinkie for next time... Meanwhile, as for the bar-dancing, the staff were nothing short of professional and simply shifted a few bottles as we hoisted ourselves up and made for awesome (or embarrassing?) photo opportunities. The drinks were amazing and huge to boot, and as far as I'm concerned you can't spend too much time in this bar. This is one Butter that's good for your heart... and for your soul!-Emma-Louise H. Tang-Tini, please! I'll keep it short and sweet... Butter is an amazing, purposely trashy, bar with anything from a Bitchin' Camaro cocktail to an inside-the-bar trailer with tater tots and nachos. The service is stellar, the staff is fun, and it's an all-around good time. The irony in itself is amazing! I first experienced what is Butter with a group of friends in earl 2009. I recently came back and noticed some remodeling changes. Can't wait until it's done! My personal favorites: the Mac 'n' Cheese and the White Castle cheeseburgers. :)-Kristin F. In one sentence: it's impossible to be bored here! Been here a few times, and always come out having a great night. I love the white-trash theme, apparently that's my scene, and it's great to sit at a bar where you can laugh at yourself and everything pretentious along with it. Old school movie classics are projected on walls, great-named strong drinks (though $10 is steeper than one would expect at such an establishment... it's not a lounge or a nightclub after all), excellently cheesy song mashups, food, twinkies, plenty of toilet paper in the bathroom stalls, garage door, funny and attentive bartenders, daisy dukes, jello shots, paddle spankings, and even a hook under the bar to hang up your trashy jacket. Place is on the small side, and the speakers are loud, so be prepared to yell over the music. But overall, great place for a night out with your friends. :) P.S. To those bitching about the CC $20 minimum... that's only 2 or 3 drinks here. Why would you be drinking any less? Seems legit.-Vicky B.
